While Rick Myers was working at the Bodega Bay Inn as a caretaker, he started to work on his project of creating artificial intelligence in two robots for his company BioTech. He built two robots (one named Hermes) that were supposed to follow him around the hotel and play laser tag with him but he could never program them right. Rick eventually gave up and scrapped the project after the Totems killed his bosses and he discovered Andre Toulon's puppets.
